Pokémon World Championships 2022: Our work with TFL Emirates Cable Cars

As part of the Pokémon World Championships 2022 celebrations, we curated a bespoke playlist for the TFL's Emirates Air Line cable cars.

Starting from the 17th of August, numerous Pokémon fans and competitors from across the globe travelled to London to attend the World Championships and visit the many ad-hoc initiatives taking place around the city, including the Emirates Royal Docks Cable cars take over.

For the occasion, each Dangleway car was decorated with a specific-themed decal, focusing on different Pokémon types. The Electric-type car, for example, featured Pikachu, Emolga, Mareep, and Electrike while the Water-type car featured Oshawott, Totodile, Mudkip, and Piplup.

Open Ear's music curator Pasha Orleans-Foli has compiled a selection of 15 Pokémon-themed tracks to be played at the station for the whole entirety of the activation.

The Pokémon team commented:

We recently had a unique brand activation with The Pokémon Company International at the London Cable Car to celebrate the 2022 Pokémon World Championships taking place in London. Our guests and staff loved the experience throughout.

One key element of this was the terminal music which was provided by Open Ear that featured popular songs from the games that created a real immersive experience for all. It was great working with Open Ear to bring this experience to life for our guests.

Travelling from one side of the Thames to the other, from the Royal Docks to the Greenwich Peninsula, each visitor was able to hop on a cable car to get to the World Championships site as well as the Pokémon Centre Pop-Up store at the ExCel.
