The Twits bar italia

Opening with a blistering guitar assault on ‘my little tony’, bar italia introduce their latest album with vigour. Filled with fuzz guitar riffs, dissonance, and conflicting vocal takes the trio delivers a series of snappy vignettes that variously dazzle and gutter drag. Written and recorded in a matter of weeks in a home studio in Mallorca, the feedback-drenched tracks loop and roll, falling somewhere between the Shoegaze of Slowdive and the abrasion of Sonic Youth though taking a more linear path than either of those influences. Dissonant and creeping, ‘que surprise’ hints at an explosion that never comes while ‘glory hunter’ skips along loosely before evolving into more robust riffing as it goes. The trio’s boldest statement yet, ‘The Twits’ is a slow burn that lingers in the mind.
