Something To Give Each Other Troye Sivan

Launching with the gloriously sensual, lust-driven Pop of the opening track ‘Rush’, Troye Sivan’s latest is a masterclass in pure, cutting edge Pop. Distilling big feelings into punchy, direct lyrics and rousing melodies coupled with earworm choruses, ‘Something To Give Each Other’ handles break ups, new romances, joy, heartbreak, and sex - alluded to and overt - with a knowing weight that borders on the confessional. There’s a weariness to Sivan’s vocals on ‘One Of Your Girls’ that lends a diaristic aura to an electronic track that could otherwise skip by. A drop in tempo on the minimal ‘Can’t Go Back, Baby’ foregrounds Sivan’s vocals, dosed with reverb and contrasted by a vocoder-treated recital of the song title showcasing the album’s exemplary production.
