The third album from Neo Soul singer Cleo Sol is a lush, meditative reflection on resilience and faith brimming with warmth and tenderness. Produced by Inflo, the producer behind SAULT, for whom Cleo Sol regularly lends her vocal talents, the vibe here is more laid back, airy and open-spaced, providing room for Sol’s vocals to maintain focus. Album highlight, ‘Old Friends’ is a minimal piano-backed track that allows Sol’s staggered cadence to provide the impact, declarative yet with a restrained energy that hints at vulnerability. Picking a highlight on an album such as this, with its detailed arrangements and Sol’s enticing vocals seems somehow remiss, however. Instead, this is an album to absorb, bask in, or simply allow to float in the background.
