Marrying low key, slightly detached R&B vocals with spacious Electronica, ‘Sunsetters/Daybreakers’ is a suite of absorbing, emotive vignettes. A mixtape rather than an album, the collection is really a series of collaborations including production from Joy Orbison on ‘Nothing’ and rRoxymore on ‘Above The Light’ and vocals from Coby Sey on ‘Can’t Be Unstuck’ that was recorded over several years. The electronic backing shifts from hefty bass on the aforementioned ‘Above The Light’, to barely there electronic swells and brushed percussion on the almost a capella ‘Gorgeous’. The latter hinges on TYSON’s R&B vocal as it slowly builds towards the latter half where sparse piano joins and eventually a bubbling beat takes hold, as TYSON’s vocals speed up and become more forceful. A mesmerising journey and a standout track.
