MOTOMAMI Rosalía

While breakthrough album ‘El Mal Querer’ channelled Flamenco and Folk traditions through a thoroughly modern lens, Rosalía’s latest is more exclusively focused on contemporary sounds. Drawing heavily on Dancehall and Reggaeton as well as alt-Pop trends, ‘MOTOMAMI’ finds Rosalía in a more personal mode, tackling stardom, paying tribute to her more disparate musical influences and removing any doubt that she is an innovator at the cutting edge of contemporary Pop trends. Lead single ‘LA FAMA’ features a guest turn from The Weeknd, piano ballad ‘HENTAI’ features production from The Neptunes, while ‘CANDY’ pulls a melodic line from Burial’s ‘Archangel’. Dense and multifaceted, ‘MOTOMAMI’ is both an immediately enjoyable Pop record and an album that takes time to unpack.
