The latest from Denzel Curry finds him turning his incisive focus inwards as he reflects on aging, shifting values and the emotional weight of self-reflection. A deeply personal album, ‘Melt My Eyez…’ also manages to be heavy on collaborators with Robert Glasper, JPEGMafia and Thundercat providing production duties while T-Pain, 6LACK, and slowthai are only some of the extensive list of features. The result is an album that ebbs and flows but is continually underpinned by Curry’s grounded ruminations. Most impressively for an album titled about crying, Curry manages to craft tracks where the overall vibe is optimistic. It’s clear his vision is set on a bright future.
