The second album of the year from Fred Again comes date stamped like the first and again acts as a diaristic journal of Fred’s emotive journey through a year of hardship. While Electronic music has steadily taken an emotive turn over the last couple of years, few imbue their music with the humanity and character present here. An album of two halfs, building in tempo and optimism, ‘Actual Life 2’ uses vocal samples pulled from the Internet to chart grief, growth and acceptance. Likely to be both prescient and all too real for many listeners, Fred channels personal love and loss into tracks of communal catharsis that celebrates the moments we come together.
