Feelings Brijean

Known mainly as the percussionist in Toro Y Moi, among many others, Brijean Murphy here with collaborator Doug Stuart present the first full-length under her solo moniker. Drawing on a hazy but uptempo vibe, ‘Feelings’ is an album of Dance music for the head as much as for the body. Packed with enticing grooves there’s a strong call to go beyond head nodding and foot tapping, but each track also touches mind and soul in what Brijean has termed “romancing the psyche”. Pulling in Psych Pop, Disco and Tropicalia vibes, there’s a sense of joy and compassion to each track as Brijean’s intimate vocals preach self-awareness and intuition. The overall vibe has a Balearic blissfulness to it and the associated feelings of calming warmth linger once the music stops, an impressive feat.
