Collapsed In Sunbeams Arlo Parks

Much talked about over the last couple of years, it’s fair to say that the debut from Arlo Parks is highly anticipated and there is a level of expectation that comes with that. Downbeat & relaxed the end result is an album that draws the listener in at every turn while settling them down to a steady mood of soulfully uplifting tracks that poke at the air around universally intimate subjects and feelings.

Instrumentally the vibe is luscious and rich with a carefully crafted balance that rarely allows any one element to dominate. Lyrically, Park’s has been championed for her characterisation and it’s clear she has significant empathy for the emotions in the scenes she sketches out. An open and cathartic listen, ‘Collapsed In Sunbeams’ will be much talked about and for good reason.
