Rose In The Dark Cleo Sol

For many artists, releasing music right now is a risky proposition. For Cleo Sol this release went against her better judgement yet she saw hope for others in her music. That is exactly what we get across nearly a dozen Jazz-Soul tracks of subtle and sparse instrumentation. Sol’s vocals have a classic tone, drawing on classic Pop and Soul voices from the ‘60s as much as from more contemporary voices like Shara Nelson and Alice Russell. The albums peak is also its closing track, as lounge keys, sampled vocals and woodwind combine for rich textures while Sol’s nostalgic vocals leave the listener wanting more. Make sure this album gets heard.
