Fitting into that warm spot between headphones and dancefloor that the music released on Studio Barnhus so regularly occupies, Bella Boo’s debut is an album that is chilled and yet demanding of attention. Slipping between House beats and more organic Electronica, like on ‘Tuesday’ which features trumpet and piano, it’s a dynamic suite of tracks that captures an air of stillness that can be missing from much electronic music. At its best like on the Pop of ‘Your Girlfriend’ which features Bella Boo’s own vocals, and on the building ‘Do The Right Thing’ Bella Boo creates subtly chilled yet vibrant tracks that in other hands would have been pushed or strained to do more.
