And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow Weyes Blood

An album about loneliness, or more specifically a collective, universal, shared sense of loneliness, Natalie Mering has said that ‘And In The Darkness…’ comes from the heart of the storm of impending doom, “literally in the thick of it”. Teasing out themes of love, uncertainty, and displacement, the latest from Weyes Blood is a carefully crafted suite of ballads that draws as much from lush synth soundscapes as it does from swelling orchestration. In fact, the consistency of tone, the emotive threads that weave throughout, and the steady pacing means no track stands above the others, leaving an album without a hint of filler. Instead, highlights can be found in the instrumentation and in Mering’s absorbing vocals that demand repeat listening.
