Gemini Rights Steve Lacy

The guitarist and Producer, known best for his work with The Internet, returns with his second LP, a departure from the DIY roots of his debut. While his debut was crafted mainly alone using just an iPhone and a laptop, his latest finds the talented producer stepping into the studio with several recurring collaborators. The result is an expanded sound that hinges on R&B but ventures into a broad range of genres for influence and flavour, most impressive being the Bossa swing of ‘Mercury’ that hints both at Hip Hop and 60s Psych Folk. From squelchy oscillating synths to dramatically simple basslines, ‘Gemini Rights’ bristles with inventiveness in a remarkably concise 35 minutes.
