Honestly, Nevermind Drake

The latest from Drake takes a sharp turn from his previous work, gaining plenty of column inches in the process, as he drops an album filled with mid-tempo House that leans into the good vibes. Primarily built from sung vocals over rap bars, Drake nonetheless continues in the vein he’s known so well for; on the nose tales of lust, braggadocio, and disappointments. Featuring only one guest turn, 21 Savage features on closer ‘Jimmy Cooks’, the heavy lifting is left to Drake’s weighty production team, including Black Coffee and Gordo. Their work crafting subtle looping beats that skillfully provide the space for full vocal verses fly in the face of the usual, more minimal vocal conventions of the genre.
