We Arcade Fire

While the last couple of albums from Arcade Fire have seen the band expand their sound into new areas, their latest returns to the rousing builds and swells of their earlier work. Concise at just forty minutes, several of the tracks are broken into multiple parts resulting in a ten track album that really represents just six songs. The renewed focus shows immediate benefits as they balance emotive orchestral passages like on ‘End of the Empire I-III’ with stomping Indie like on ‘Age of Anxiety II’. While the trend in lyricism continues from previous releases with a focused vein of cynicism towards digital culture there are moments of optimism throughout ‘We’ that stand out as highlights.
