Warm Chris Aldous Harding

The latest from Aldous Harding finds her nebulous lyrics paired with John Parish’s production to craft an Indie album that leans towards a wistful Folkiness but remains too fragmentary and singular to be so easily pigeonholed. Musically, ‘Warm Chris’ is an album that is easy to bask in, as piano and acoustic guitar predominate in looping, lulling phrases. Hardings lyrics, always open for interpretation, lead the listener on intricate emotive journeys of solace and understanding while her vocals variously channel Cat Power, Deerhoof’s Satomi Matsuzaki, and Nico at different moments. An album of depth and nuance, it rewards repeat listens while never threatening to wear out its welcome.
