Caprisongs FKA twigs

Nominally a “mixtape” rather than an album proper, the latest from FKA twigs is less focused on her solo vocals and instead turns to collaborators, field recorded snippets of conversation, and multi-tracked vocal mixes. That’s not to say twigs’ isolated vocals are completely absent, on ‘jealousy’ which also features Rema, her distinct cadence filled with careful syllables is in full effect. Featuring a stylistic palette that errs closer to mainstream R&B and Hip Hop than previous releases, ‘papi bones’ featuring Shygirl stands out with its Dancehall rhythms. Lacking the intensity of previous releases, ‘Caprisongs’ is instead a document of twigs more at ease but as emotively honest as ever.
