Far In Helado Negro

Crafted mainly in Marfa, a small artistic haven in far west Texas where the skies are big and the people are few, ‘Far In’ is a soft palette of relaxing Disco vibes and organic Electronica. Taking things gently, even where the tempo picks up, the sounds evoke time taken by Roberto Carlos Lange to socially distance and reset following his previous well-received album as Helado Negro. From steel drum to Rhodes piano to synthesiser burbles, the instrumentation varies but adheres to the organic template, each utilised towards the lighter side of its capabilities. Coming in off the back of the ambient break of ‘Aguas Frías’, ‘Aureole’ features a solid bass kick that translates, even with such a contrast before it, more like a heartbeat heard when all else is silent. Elsewhere, the Deep House of ‘Outside the Outside’ stands out some as while it avoids high tempo its warm groove brings a swelling energy that at times threatens to bubble over.
