Tread Ross From Friends

After growing frustrated with the stop-start nature of making computer based electronic music, Felix Clary Weatherall created a new plugin, ‘Thresho’. Setting the software to monitor his music making and only record under certain conditions freed him to experiment vicariously before returning to a library of his own music ready for sampling and reshaping. The resultant album ‘Tread’ was built from those recordings and draws on memories of the music from around his South London home. Emotive and danceable, the nature of the recording lends a live club vibe to an uncanny set that mixes immediacy with nostalgia. While ‘Brand New Start’ brings cozy warmth, ‘Run’ begins with elegant ambiance before transforming into joyful waves of heartwarming beats and synths. It’s a plausible highlight, though that title probably should go to 2-step opener ‘The Daisy’ and it’s lush, lulling melody.
