Talk Memory BADBADNOTGOOD

Five years after their most successful release yet, ‘IV’, and minus founding member and keyboardist Matthew Tavares, BADBADNOTGOOD are back with another instrumental epic of Jazz Fusion. Formed from a foundation of improvisational studio performances, ‘Talk Memory’ finds the band in expansive mode with a stronger focus on far reaching Jazz. Pulling back from the Hip Hop influences of much of their work, a rich vein of lush soundscapes permeates this release thanks to collaborations with Laraaji, Karriem Riggins, Floating Points, and particularly Arthur Verocai. The addition of Verocai’s evocative string section acts as both building block for the Jazz Rock Fusion excursions on tracks like ‘Beside April’ while also pushing boundaries and expanding the palette on tracks like ‘City of Mirrors’. Tied more strongly to Jazz tradition than previous releases, ‘Talk Memory’s cinematic soundscapes are both timeless and fittingly fresh.
