Almas Conectadas Quantic & Nidia Góngora

Following up the impressive collaborative album ‘Curao’, Quantic’s Will Holland has again teamed up with Nidi Góngora for an album of sweeping Latin rhythms. Drawing on the rich musical traditions of her South Pacific home, Góngora crafts songs of love and community that give the album its name, translated as ‘Connected Souls’. The strong focus on Góngora’s vocals builds on the previous release with harmonies created from multi-tracked lines and careful delay, allowing her voice to saturate each piece with warmth and personality. Rhythmically Holland draws on Salsa, Cumbia and, on ‘Adorar la Sangre’, Rock ‘n’ Roll with less focus on dance floor beats than their first release. The result is an album that loses none of the drive but feels more connected to the source of Góngora’s traditional Folk and the people and places it brings to life.
