Flat White Moon Field Music

Stepping back from a more clearly defined political outlook, as on their previous two albums, Field Music bring a 70s Soft and a Prog Rock foil to their typical 80s Art Rock sound on ‘Flat White Moon’. Retaining the wit and astute observational style we’ve come to know of them, the Brewis brothers continue to channel XTC while also hinting at Paul McCartney and The Style Council.

The duo continue to stretch themselves, however, and the album’s more far reaching moments present surprises, like on ‘Meant To Be’; a stripped to the essentials take on the Prog Rock of King Crimson or Genesis. Field Music’s latest succeeds in retaining depth and complexity while distilling their sound.
