Introducing… Aaron Frazer

The debut from the falsetto voiced Aaron Frazer brings classic Soul and R&B vibes to a modern lounging Pop sensibility. Featuring a cast of players that includes elder statesmen such as the Memphis Boys alongside younger contemporaries of Frazer and producer Dan Auerbach, ‘Introducing…’ was written in just four days. A collaborative effort between Frazer and Auerbach, the goal of the short writing sessions was to create an album that felt immediate and instinctive.

While there are many highlights, not least the piano-driven championing of love ‘If I Got It (Your Love Brought It)’, the standout is ‘Bad News’; a twisting light Soul-Funk jam that builds out a plea from the Earth for recognition of the destruction our planet faces through climate change. Mixing emotional resonance with catchy Pop sensibilities ‘Introducing…’ captures the sound of classic Soul 45s, marking it as more of a singles collection than a precisely constructed and laboured over long-player, and all the better for it.
