Face the Facts Linkwood & Other Lands

A collaboration between Edinburgh based musicians Linkwood and Other Lands, ‘Face The Facts’ is an album built around achieving balance between both complementary and competing elements and sensibilities. Soft grooves are completed with a glassy melody on ‘Porty’, while elsewhere a fuzzy analogue rhythm has fracturing electronic touches layered over the top on ‘3VSR’. Impressively, nothing feels forced as the album weaves between dreamy Electronica and more solid Deep House, both of which come together on the shimmering ‘Gold Leith’ as a grooving organ line meets silvery atmospherics and a low down percussive pulse. Album highlight ‘Shapes’ is a tempered and distilled Deep House track that takes the essence of a floor filler and stretches it out into a low-key meditative groove of descending arpeggios and organic hand percussion.
