Twice As Tall Burna Boy

Burna Boy makes a swift return on ‘Twice As Tall’ after a global breakthrough with his fourth album, 2019’s ‘African Giant’, that brought an ultimately unsuccessful GRAMMY nomination and ignited an even brighter fire and sense of purpose. Again, mixing global rhythms Burna Boy pulls from Afro Beat, Dancehall, R&B, Hip Hop and contemporary African and Global Pop while pushing each genre forward with assists from a selection of big name beatmakers and producers, including Anderson.Paak. Elsewhere he’s joined by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Stormzy, and Naughty By Nature. Opening track ‘Level Up’ captures the mood from the off, as Burna Boy declares his drive to do more and prove his success in collaboration with Senegalese legend Youssou N’Dour. Album highlight, ‘Monsters You Made’ is his most overtly political track on an album that leans more heavily into social and political topics. Featuring a chorus from Chris Martin of Coldplay, Burna Boy’s own verses bristle with energy, focus and emotion and absolutely must be heard. ‘Twice As Tall’ brings enhanced depth and richness to Burna Boy’s sound and places him in the upper echelons of Global Pop. The GRAMMY may be coming.
