Cape Cira K-LONE

The debut album from K-LONE drops the club styles we’re used to in favour of Downtempo House and Balearica that imagines a summer that never was. Filled with field recordings of birdsong, it’s a distinctly environmental experience. Yet, much of the instrumentation, and even the birdsong, is digitised to a hyperreal sheen. The result is an album that leans towards ambient but that can be startling and intensely engaging. Nowhere is this more true than on the extraordinary soundscape of ‘Palmas’ where deep bass and staccato, metallic percussion meet a rotating cast of organic swells and waves.
