Kuru Kuru Maajo

Inspired by nature as much as by culture the second album from Maajo takes in Electronica, Tropicalia, Balearica and the sounds of your favourite nature documentary. ‘Nkoranza’ builds slowly to a buoyant, rhythmic Dance track that expands as it evolves while ‘Aamuapoltan’ is a dance floor ready Disco cut and ‘Yara Mantra’ builds expertly and at a touch over five minutes is still over too soon. The vocal tracks here tend towards a slower pace as ‘Ito Urok’ featuring Ismaila Sané and ‘Gbêmen Nayon’ featuring Akim Color provide elegant song structures that sit comfortably with the more upbeat and instrumental vibe of the album.
