No Beginning No End 2 Jose James

The follow up to the acclaimed 2013 album ‘No Beginning No End’, the latest from Jose James pulls in more collaborations than the formative release but retains the central emotive soul of that record. This is evident from the get-go but second track ‘You Know What It Do’ pushes the point as classic grooving Soul with crisp guitar and Funky organ hit their stride in a way that makes hips shake without the need to turn up the heat. Of those collaborations, ‘Turn Me Up’ features Aloe Blacc and a sultry guitar and bass combo and carefully flits between wholesome and sultry. Elsewhere, ‘Just The Way You Are’ fits multipart guitars and keys together into a classic Soul ballad that still allows space for James’ exquisite vocals. As a follow up to a well-loved album, part 2 is a timeless piece that is bound to leap right into many hearts.
