Over twenty years of Kevin Barnes’ career as Of Montreal have seen him both establish his sound and cover a range of moods and emotions. The latest finds him channeling New Wave, 90s Pop and buoyant Indie guitar riffing on a collection of good time tunes with an almost saccharine sweetness. Yet weaved throughout is a lyrical confusion and anxiety that dissects our current times with the withering eye of experience. To the cynic it may come as a surprise that the result is a relevant and entertainingly prescient album of Indie Pop.
