The opening tracks form a steady base of sparse synths, piano, and layered percussion like on the looping builds of ‘Waking Life’. The title track presents a turn towards a heavier sound as deeper Techno influenced kicks burst before snares snap and waves of synths roll through. From there ‘Nighthawk’ brings darkness while ‘Cold was the night’ slides between glitching electronics and a solid Burial-like two-step beat. All in, ‘Space a Between Stars’ is a debut of impressive scale.
