Spirals Heaven Wide Yamaneko

Ambient music is having a bit of a renaissance of late and ‘Spirals Heaven Wide’ is a true gem bound to propel that movement into broader critical attention. While a lot of contemporary ambient music can feel like background music designed to be synced with film or games to drive it’s narrative and complete its structure, the music on ‘Spirals Heaven Wide’ is more closely aligned to the structure of long form songs. It is, in essence, more traditionally musical. Eschewing New Age ethereal chimes and ambient cosmic soundscapes, ‘Spirals Heaven Wide’ offers fragmentary hints at songs that never were from early Techno cuts to Electro Pop hits. It’s reassuringly human and emotive, most impressively on the uncanny highlight ‘Fading Embers’.
